Attorney Thomas is also a JAG officer in the United States Army Reserve, primarily functioning as a legal assistance and administrative law attorney.

Attorney Thomas attended Dillard University of New Orleans where he majored in English. He received a Bachelor of Arts in 2004. Attorney Thomas pursued his legal studies at Southern University Law Center, where he received his Juris Doctorate in 2009. Also, during is matriculation through law school, Attorney Thomas held a summer clerkship with the Honorable Bernette Joshua Johnson, Chief Justice of the Louisiana State Supreme Court. Here, he was able to exercise his legal writing skills by drafting several writ reports on a number of relevant criminal and civil issues.
